Lets talk money. Unless you are a mining tycoon or a fake tanned buffoon in the running for the American Presidency, you probably don’t want to be throwing your hard earned cash away on sub-standard products that need to be replaced far too frequently. Much in the same way that investing in LED light bulbs will keep your cash in your pocket, so too will choosing Deep Cycle Systems Lithium-Ion batteries (DCS Li-Ion) over Lead-acid batteries.
Fact. DCS Li-Ion batteries have a lifespan of up to 5000 full 100% DOD (depth of discharge) cycles. After the first 2000 cycles the remaining battery capacity will still be around 80%. In comparison with Lead-Acid batteries which can only provide around 300 cycles at 100% DOD and around 1000 cycles at 50% DOD.
Fact. You could have to replace your Lead-Acid battery up to 6 times to achieve the same usage as you could get from one DCS Li-Ion battery.
Fact. You save on installation, delivery and associated costs because you only have to install one DCS Li-Ion battery in the same period as you many have to replace a Lead-Acid battery 6 times.
Fact. DCS Li-Ion batteries are approximately one third of the weight and have a much higher energy density of a comparable Lead-Acid battery, thereby greatly reducing any associated transport costs and required storage space.
Fact. If after 5000 cycles your DCS Li-Ion battery isn’t performing the way you would like it to, we can rebuild it at a fraction of the price you would pay for a new one, again saving you precious dollars. Rebuildable for life!
Fact. However you work it out, investing in DCS Li-Ion batteries will save you money, time and hassle. Lets do some basic sums:
- Invest in one DCS Li-Ion 10kWh battery for $10,990. Your battery could last up to 5000 cycles @ 100% DOD. 5000 cycles/365 days in a year would see your initial battery cycling for around 13.7 years. However a correctly sized battery for the application should only cycle around 250 times a year, resulting in a 20+ year life span. After which it can be rebuilt thereby further extending the lifespan.
- Now to get the equivalent power and performance in a Lead-Acid battery (AGM or GEL) is a little harder. Lead-Acid batteries can only operate at around 50% DOD to have any chance of reaching over 1000 cycles. To get the equivalent usable power you would need a 20kWh battery because you can only really use 50% of its capacity. (20kWh / 50%DOD = 10kWh usable power). The closest competitors example would be a 10kWh battery for $3,938. So we would need 2 of these to achieve the same usable 10kWh performance to compare apples with apples. 2 x $3,938 = $7,876. Remember these batteries will last around 1000 cycles, so will require replacing around 5-6 times within the lifespan of your DCS Li-Ion battery. Therefore $7,876 x 5 = $39,380! And that’s not factoring in delivery and installation costs on each occasion!
So however you do the numbers, it’s easy to see why a Deep Cycle Systems Lithium Ion Battery is a smart investment for your home and your pocket.
