-Do you want to save money?
- Is it your dream to be ‘off grid’?
- Do you want to free yourself from the stranglehold that power companies have over you?
- Do you never want to have to worry about a power outage again?
- Are you looking for a ‘green’ energy solution?
If your answer is ‘YES’ to any of the above then it is important to ensure that your solar system is compatible with battery storage systems such as the one that Deep Cycle Systems (DCS) can offer you.
With all the advertising on the television, radio, on buses and so forth, it may be easy to assume that by installing a pretty cheap solar system as on offer from a number of companies, all of the above will be taken care of. Yet you would be wrong. Whilst all the marketing makes this seem like a complete solution, installing a solar system is really only half the solution.
Firstly the inverters supplied with some of the major solar retailers have no ability to be connected to a battery system. These are a basic grid tie inverter that means there is no prospect of ever being able to store your energy to use at times when your solar system is no longer creating enough energy from the sun. Ie, at night, overcast days or during heavy power consumption peaks.
Any excess power you generate will be fed back into the grid, and the power companies will then get to charge a premium to other consumers for using YOUR green energy. Yes you may receive some compensation. Expect 5-6c/kWh depending on the state you reside in. By comparison you can expect to be charged around 38c/kWh for the very energy you have just fed back into the grid. So thanks to you the big energy companies pocket around 32c/kWh for all the excess power you generate. Does that feel like a rip off? Well it should. The solution? A DCS battery storage system.
By comparison a DCS battery storage system in conjunction with a compatible hybrid inverter means you may never have to rely on the power companies again, as any excess power you create is stored within your battery until such a time as you need it.
Whilst it is probably a good idea for some families to remain connected to the grid as a back up system for those times of great power usage, it is reassuring to know that in the event that there is ever a power outage you will have some of your own power already stored to rely upon.
Your DCS battery should be stored as closely as possible to your inverter, in a well ventilated location and out of direct sunlight and extreme weather variables. It can be mounted upright on the wall or ground. It can also be installed under homes with adequate space.
So remember. If you don’t want to lose the energy that your solar system creates then it is important to ensure that your solar provider can provide you with a compatible hybrid inverter for a DCS battery system. If you are unsure contact your DCS representative today.
